Patanjali tells us that yoga is the ending of the definitions of the field of consciousness. He goes on to give us a formula to attain that place which he calls nirodhah: The actions of repeated practice coupled with an attitude of detachment and discrimiantion. Metaphorically, the asi, the double-edged sword of purified intelligence, is used to discern between the real and un-real; true boundaries and mere illusions. Wielded by the yogi, limiting definitions can be cut away revealing our Self in its true splendor.

Scott was introduced to his yoga practice at the age of two under the guidance of his mother. Unknowingly incorporating fundamental aspects of yoga into his daily life for the next twenty years, he re-discovered the practice of yoga in 2001 in the pursuit of a healthier life. In 2002 he was invited to his first Ashtanga class and was immediately enamored. Scott’s pursuit of the Ashtanga method led him to the completion of Tim Miller’s teacher training intensive in 2003 as well as intensives with Richard Freeman, Lino Miele, Dena Kingsberg and Nancy Gillgoff. In 2005 Scott had the blessing and opportunity to practice with Sri K. Patthabi Jois in Encinitas during his world tour.
While continuing his Ashtanga practice, Scott has been simultaneously studying the teachings and method of Anusara Yoga® as developed by John Friend. He has been granted status as an Anusara-inspired Yoga Teacher™ under the guidance of Senior Certified Anusara Teacher™ Darren Rhodes. Scott is currently in the process of discovering where these two amazing styles of yoga fit into his practice, teachings and his life.
The Ashtanga practice has become an integral part of Scott’s active life. Bringing balance to his combination of outdoor activities, Ashtanga has allowed him to pursue life with an intense passion. It is this passion and intensity that he hopes to share through his teachings of Ashtanga. Ultimately, the practice itself, pursued with consistency and precision, is the real teacher. Through a fun and supportive environment, he hopes to facilitate the discovery of joy in the practice that translates to joy in life as the Self is continually revealed.

AcroYoga Maha Meta: The Compassionate Touch (Intermediate Level)
"Love is the most healing energy in the universe" - Deepak Chopra. The Buddhist monks knew this, the Thai masters knew this and AcroYogis know this! We clear our minds and become present with our breath in preparation to channel the ancient wisdom of Metta - loving kindness. Thai massage lays the foundation of compassionate touch, receptivity and communication. The techniques learned on the floor will be taken to the air in the flying work. Flying can be a deeply transformational way to surrender to gravity and to the support of a partner, allowing unnecessary holdings to be released. We will work in groups of 3 - base, flyer and spotter - to ensure safety and to encourage teamwork. The dance of giving and receiving will leave everyone in the room floating with gratitude. No partner is necessary. Intermediate yoga practice is recommended and the openness to turning your world upside down.

Acrobatics Immersion: Bringing the wisdom of Yoga to Acrobatics (Intermediate to Advanced Level)
AcroYoga aims to bring yogic awareness to the power and grace of acrobatics. Confidence, concentration, trust and agility are all elemenbts that support the embodiment of an acrobat and can help any person feel more empowered in their daily lives. By expanding the range of the physical body, we learn to trust ourselves and others, realizing our collective potential. As we remove self-imposed limits, we are walking on the path towards liberation. All of these very yogic ideals shine through the practice of acrobatics. The elements shared in this offering consist of: strength buildiong techniques and the AcroYoga asana sequence, partner balance, acrobatic flying, inversions and spotting techniques. With these new tools students have a fresh perspective to enhance their practice and their approach to others. No partner is necessary, intermediate yoga practice is recommended.
Prerequisites: headstands with no spot and handstands against the wall. In addition, previous AcroYoga experience is recommended, especially basing and/or flying acrobatic flying elements.
